Abstract

Abstract. The article is devoted to the issue of organizing independent learning for master’s students in higher education institutions of aviation. Contemporary approaches, practices, and shortcomings in the organization of independent work of aviation master’s students are analyzed in relation to the broader objectives of higher education modernization.

The author emphasizes that the primary mission of higher education lies in preparing future specialists capable of thinking proactively and creatively, independently processing and expanding acquired information, and applying it in practice; specialists who are oriented towards continuous self-improvement, self-development, and lifelong learning. Furthermore, master’s students in the aviation domain are expected not only to acquire high-quality knowledge, skills, and competencies but also to be prepared to effectively apply them in their future professional activities.

The article highlights that the effectiveness of independent learning depends largely on the appropriately selected types of assignments, methods, and forms of work, which determine the level of mastery of professional knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as the quality of performance, time-management skills, and capacity for autonomous work. Independent learning contributes to the development of professional competence (knowledge, skills, and abilities), fosters critical thinking, communicative activity, cognitive engagement, self-organization, self-regulation, the ability to solve professional problems autonomously, and to interact effectively within the digital society.

According to the author, the effective organization of independent work of master’s students requires the development of an educational and methodological complex. The purpose and objectives of this complex are directed towards solving priority pedagogical tasks: providing methodological assistance to master’s students in completing independent assignments within academic disciplines; maintaining the logical structure of instruction and assimilation of the curriculum; creating conditions for a unified approach to the organization of independent learning; and improving the overall quality, efficiency, and academic outcomes of the educational process.
