Abstract

Abstract. The aim of this article is to explore effective strategies for developing English-language listening skills for law students as part of their professional foreign language training and to determine pedagogical conditions that facilitate the comprehension of authentic legal audio content. The research methodology relies on a comprehensive approach that combines the analysis of contemporary pedagogical practices, the development of specialized learning resources, and the implementation of innovative digital technologies in the educational process. The methodological framework is grounded in communicative, competency-based, task-oriented, and interdisciplinary approaches. Digital platforms and tools such as Moodle, TED-Ed, Edpuzzle, and BBC Learning English were applied in the study. The article highlights pedagogical conditions that contribute to the systematic formation of listening competence among future lawyers.

The scientific novelty of the study consists in improving the methodology of developing listening skills through the integration of authentic legal audio materials (including interviews with practicing lawyers, courtroom debates, and legal podcasts) into the training process. A methodological model is proposed that takes into account the peculiarities of legal terminology, discourse, and professional stylistics.

Conclusions. The acquisition of English listening skills is an essential component of professional foreign language training for law students. The systematic use of authentic legal audio resources enhances students’ motivation, strengthens professionally oriented foreign language competence, and ensures effective preparation for professional communication in the international legal sphere.
